An Update from Pastor Padron

Hey there, Pastor Padron here! After more than 5 years of making a weekly podcast without missing more than a couple of weeks, we have not uploaded any new episodes in the last month. What is up with that?

I have been looking for the time to update you on why. Paradoxically, I find myself convalescing at home with a case of pneumonia and realized that one way I could pass the time productively would be to let you know what is up with NJBS.

To be blunt, each of my original co-hosts have moved on from Twins. I am happy for them and wish them well in their new ventures. In light of their moving on and moving up, I have lost my co-hosts, co-collaborators, and my producer. So, I am not just blowing smoke when I say that Not Just Blowing Smoke needed to be reimagined to make a comeback.

The original purpose of the podcast was to “bring the wealth of knowledge, expertise, and fun of Twins Smoke Shop, right to you, wherever you are, whenever you want it.”  That is still the foundation for NJBS—educational, informative, fun, and entertaining content based out of New England’s premiere smoke shop and lounge, Twins Smoke Shop. What needs to be done is revamping the way that content is going to be created and delivered.

What is that going to look like? For starters, I will be working to create more focused video and audio content along with the addition of written blogs covering:

  • Opinions.
  • What is happening at Twins.
  • The 7-20-4 Flashback.
  • Engaging conversation through social media posts.
  • Industry news.
  • Cigar and pipe 101.
  • Interviews with tobacco and spirit industry personalities.
  • Reviews of cigars and pipe tobaccos.

Instead of combining some or all these in a live stream every week, we will be endeavoring to make consistent uploads of new content to YouTube, Podbean, Facebook, Instagram, and our website, notjustblowingsmoke.com, which will focus on just one topic, making it easier for our audience to get the information they want instead of having to navigate longer episodes with lots of different content to find what they want to learn and listen to.

When will this relaunch happen? This post is the first step in making that happen! My daytime role as the Retail Operations Manager for Twins Smoke Shop is keeping me extra busy these days as we recruit and train new members of our team. It will likely be another month or so before we are at the point where I will have dedicated time to work on content. Until then, I will be doing the best I can.

Grace,

Pastor Padron
